American Idol and the fans of the reality show have done it again- you have chosen a slightly better than mediocre singer over a true vocalist with real skills.

When will you learn? This is a show to find the best singer, right?

You’ve got it right a few times- Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard and Carrie Underwood. However, when you bomb, you bomb big.

Let’s look at a couple prime examples: There is no way that Kris Allen was a better singing talent than Adam Lambert.

Then there is the  number one travesty of all from Season 5 when the questionable singing talent of Taylor Hicks beat the angelic vocals of Katherine McPhee (not to mention Hicks also beat Chris Daughtry).

So here we go again- this year America selects the Dave Matthews wannabe who looks like he’s taking a bowel movement every time he sings, over a 16-year-old, who if you closed your eyes and listened to her sing, you’d think it was a 60-year-old seasoned black woman (Did you see the duet with Jennifer Holiday? ‘nuff said!).

So the pattern continues- Taylor Hicks, Lee DeWyze, Kris Allen and now Phillip Phillips.

A singing competition? I think not. A pretty boy competition? Sounds about right.
