Woman dead in suitcase, police ‘Now’ investigating as possible homicide
The woman who was found dead inside of a suitcase that washed up along the Passaic River in Newark Monday morning was apparently beaten to death, and her case is now being investigated as a homicide, authorities said today.
I’m no expert but how was it being investigated up until this point?
A preliminary autopsy revealed today that the woman’s death was caused by blunt force injuries, but investigators are still unsure of the victim’s name or how long she was trapped in the suitcase before she was discovered near the Jackson Street Bridge, said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Monday a construction worker discovered the victim and called authorities. Apparently the bag washed up on the river’s shore, the worker opened it and then called 911.
