Rhys Ifans, ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ villain, has ‘incident’ at Comic Con – gets misdemeanor
Friday night at the San Diego Comic Con, British actor Rhys Ifans was arrested. Ifans portrays the villain Lizard in 2012′s “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
Brown told Reuters and other media outlets that a member of Ifans’ “entourage” did not have proper identification to enter Comic-Con for a promotional event. Ifans then pushed his past security, Brown added, cursed the staff and offered insults at the America in general, shouting “I don’t live here.”
While the police spokeswoman added that Ifans’ “smelled like alcohol”, he was not cited for public drunkenness. The guard who pushed made a citizen’s arrest so the San Diego police department issued the misdemeanor battery charge leaving the San Diego Attorney’s office to decide how to proceed.
A formal statement by the studio says Ifans “deeply regrets the incident.”
“The Amazing Spider-Man” opens in theaters July 3, 2012.
