Photo journal of Baby Sandhill cranes ’til they take flight
Cristi Anderson has shared a series of photos which document the arrival, growth and development of a pair of infant Sandhill Cranes.
The Sandhill Crane family arrived (above) and we witnessing the amazing parenting of these fledgling birds as they learned to forage for food (below)
It’s very common to see the Sandhills around Florida, even near malls, shopping centers or restaurants. This family was blessed with “twins” – a pair to raise.
The parents were protective of the young birds at first and then gradually would allow them closer and closer. Below is one of the adults watching movement (aka People watching) on the other side of the glass.
The parents were teaching the little ones how to fly.
Then it happened…
The babies were finally old enough and they tasted the freedom of flight.
All of the photos were taken by Cristi Anderson in Brandon, Florida.
